Rabbi Philip Warmflash
Founder & Principal
For more than 35 years, Rabbi Philip Warmflash has helped congregations navigate change, strengthen leadership, and build thriving Jewish communities. Through ShulAdvisors, he partners with clergy, boards, and executive leaders to assess congregational strengths and challenges, facilitate meaningful leadership conversations, and develop practical strategies that help synagogues thrive.
Rabbi Warmflash's approach is grounded in the belief that lasting change begins with listening. By combining thoughtful assessment with collaborative planning, he helps congregations move from insight to action—creating a shared vision, strengthening governance, and positioning themselves for a vibrant future.
Throughout his career, Rabbi Warmflash has worked with hundreds of synagogue leaders, helping congregations address strategic planning, governance, leadership development, and organizational change. As the founding Chief Executive Officer of Jewish Learning Venture, he developed nationally recognized initiatives—including Reshet: The Network for Synagogue Strength and LeV: Getting to the Heart of Jewish Education—that strengthened leadership, deepened engagement, and advanced innovation in congregations across North America.
Rabbi Warmflash is the recipient of the 2007 Covenant Award for Exceptional Jewish Educators. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brandeis University and received both his master's degree and rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Rabbi Michael S. Siegel
Founding Consultant
Rabbi Michael S. Siegel brings more than four decades of experience in congregational leadership, organizational innovation, and Jewish communal life to ShulAdvisors. He served as Senior Rabbi of Anshe Emet Synagogue in Chicago from 1990 until his retirement in 2026, concluding a 44-year career at the congregation. During his tenure, he helped transform Anshe Emet into one of Chicago’s most dynamic Jewish communities, developing innovative approaches to worship, engagement, leadership, and institutional life. That experience gives him a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges congregational leaders face as they navigate change.
Throughout his career, Rabbi Siegel has been a leader in strengthening synagogues and reimagining congregational life. He co-founded the Hayom Coalition, a group of large Conservative congregations that helped advance a more responsive, congregation-centered approach within the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. He has also mentored generations of rabbis and communal leaders and has been deeply involved in building relationships across religious and racial communities.
Rabbi Siegel is a past President of the Chicago Board of Rabbis and has served in leadership roles with the Rabbinical Assembly, the Jewish Theological Seminary, MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger, the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, and other Jewish and interfaith organizations. Following his retirement from Anshe Emet, he became Managing Director of Faith-Based Advisory Services at Hilco Global.
Rabbi Siegel earned his bachelor’s degree from Hiram College and received his Master of Hebrew Letters and rabbinic ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary. At ShulAdvisors, he brings the perspective of a longtime congregational leader committed to helping synagogues understand their challenges, embrace new possibilities, and build vibrant and sustainable futures.
Margie Zohn
Consultant
Margie Zohn (she/her) brings more than 25 years of experience as an executive coach, leadership consultant, and facilitator, partnering with leaders across nonprofits, academia, Jewish organizations, and the corporate sector. She has designed and led hundreds of workshops worldwide, helping organizations strengthen leadership, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
For seven years, Margie served as a senior consultant with the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, where she coached clergy, executive directors, and boards, facilitated strategic planning processes, and supported leadership and board development. She has also been a featured speaker for the National Association for Temple Administrators and a presenter at the URJ Biennial.
From 2013–2022, Margie taught public speaking and communication at Harvard University, where she was recognized annually for Excellence in Teaching by Harvard's Derek Bok Center. She has also taught in executive education programs at Harvard, Columbia, MIT, and IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Margie holds a B.A. from Brown University and an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is also certified by The College of Executive Coaching and has advanced training in organizational development.
